Border crossing between Takeshiken (China) and Bulgan (Mongolia)

the 22 April 2016 in Uncategorized

We appeared at the border at 9 am, bad luck it did not open until 10am, so we learned to play 5000, dice game, to 2 Mongols who were also waiting.

Finally, the border opened only at about 10:30 am. A beautiful modern building with all the infrastructure deserving of the biggest borders, in brief, we entered with our bikes (not easy to climb dozens of stairs and to cross the door with two wooden bars fixed on the luggage rack but well..., we got there with the help of Chinese customs officers, very friendly people. In the line, a customs officer asked me if I had a computer, he wanted to see my photos and videos and that's it, he did not even ask to see my APN, or even know if I had a GPS. Then the bags are passed in the scanner, our passports were stamped and there, we headed to the Mongolian customs. There it is in an older building that we were welcomed, our bikes remained outside, a guy took our passports, stamped them, and that was it !!!! The bags have not been searched or scanned. We were about to leave when a guy called us back to complete two papers. One was for the declaration of assets and currencies, we have indicated the euros and dollars that we had on us, more or less finally, nobody checked, as well as the computer and the camera, then it is an English-speaking student met 2 minutes previously who filled another paper in Cyrillic for us, we indicated there the color and the brand of our bikes in two copies, one for them and one for us. All this still took 2 hours in total, as there were a little crowd at the opening of the Chinese border. And that's it !!! It is in the most total delight as we faced such magnificent landscapes, that we attacked a beautiful asphalt road with no traffic, quite a rest for our ears compared to China ...
